T-shirts were issued as undergarments to US Navy sailors in the early 20th century. It wasn't until the 1950s, when Marlon Brando wore one in A Streetcar Named Desire, that they became outerwear.

Levi Strauss and Jacob Davis patented riveted denim trousers in 1873 specifically for California gold miners who needed durable work pants. The rivets at stress points are still there today.

High-heeled shoes were invented in Persia in the 10th century for male horse riders. The heel helped keep feet in stirrups. European aristocratic men adopted them in the 1600s before women claimed the style.
